BBC & S4C Presenter | CBBC Newsround Journalist | Author | Event Host | Bilingual Broadcaster (Welsh & English)
Alex Humphreys is a bubbly and creative bilingual presenter, journalist, and author, well known to audiences across Wales and the UK. A familiar face on S4C and the BBC, she brings warmth, professionalism, and energy to every broadcast — from children’s news and entertainment to national current affairs and live events.
Born in Chester and raised in Flintshire, North Wales, Alex received a Welsh-medium education before studying Music at Cardiff University. She began her media career with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, before moving into broadcasting, where her credits include Blue Peter, the BBC Proms, and the BBC’s children’s news programme Newsround.
Alex first made her mark in Welsh broadcasting as producer and presenter of Ffeil, the Welsh-language children’s news programme on S4C, before co-presenting the primetime entertainment series Band Cymru and coverage of the Urdd Eisteddfod, the world’s largest youth festival.
In 2018, Alex joined CBBC’s Newsround team, interviewing a range of high-profile guests including David Baddiel and Olly Murs. Since then, she has presented CBBC Live Lessons, reported for BBC Breakfast, BBC Click, and BBC One’s Sunday Morning Live, and served as a Senior Journalist on BBC Wales Live.
A passionate gamer and storyteller, Alex has fronted BBC Radio 4’s “What’s in a Game?” and the BBC World Service documentary “In the Studio: World of Warcraft.” Her first book, Playing with Reality: Gaming in a Pandemic(2022), explores how the gaming world evolved through lockdown, combining real player stories with industry insight.
Alongside her broadcast work, Alex is an accomplished live event host, having presented for CBeebies Live Stage (with Dr Ranj), BAFTA Q&A sessions, the BBC Proms, Proms in the Park, and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales’ first-ever gaming concert.
Today, Alex presents S4C’s national weather service and Yr Wythnos, a news review programme for Welsh learners. She also regularly reads news bulletins on S4C and BBC Radio Wales, and contributes as an expert pundit on gaming and music across UK television and radio.
With her bilingual fluency, broad broadcast experience, and passion for storytelling, Alex Humphreys is one of Wales’s leading on-screen talents — a trusted journalist, engaging presenter, and versatile voice across BBC, S4C, and national media.
